Pikes Peak PF & QF Chapter 247 - About Us Page
A Local Colorado Chapter
Welcome to the Pikes Peak Pheasants Forever chapter. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever (PF/QF), are national nonprofit conservation organizations dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education, and land management policies and programs. Pheasants Forever is the only national organization with a model of chapters keeping 100% of the funds they raise. While belonging to a larger national organization that has a voice on federal and state conservation policies, chapters are tasked with finding projects for their funds. Colorado takes full advantage of this model using funds raised for projects locally as well as other areas in the state of Colorado.
About Pikes Peak PF & Quail Forever Chapter 247
The Pikes Peak Chapter 247 was founded in 1988, and are the oldest CO chapter. We are affiliated with Pheasants Forever / Quail Forever organization nationally as well as the CO state organization. Chapter 247 is located in Colorado Springs, CO, serving approximately 500 members from El Paso and surrounding counties. In 2010, we acquired Pheasants Forever membership for Chapter 247 providing additional opportunity for our members and aligning the chapter with the national organization’s focus on Pheasants, Quail, and upland habitat conservation.
Over the years the chapter has worked to develop upland habitat in complement with wetlands and soil conservation. The intent is to provide a more diverse ecosystem which produces a healthier environment for all of us to enjoy. Recent endeavors include:
- Contributing over $10,000 to habitat improvement projects
- Providing Youth Events to educate our next generation of conservationists
- Hosting an Annual Fundraiser Banquet to generate funds for Chapter 247 activities and aligned interests
- Sharing in the sponsorship of 5 Farm Bill Biologists from the National Resource Conservation (NRCS) supporting and guiding our CO habitat programs with area farmers, ranchers and organizations.
- Since 2010 PF has assisted in establishing over 400 "pivot corners" in CO under the Corners for Conservation program and 800 acres of "playa" assisting in habitat development. For four years now these areas have been open for public hunting.
We invite everyone to join in our monthly meeting, annual banquet, fundraising activities, habitat projects, and youth events throughout the year!
Please check our Events page for information about these and other events.
Donate
Whether your passion is the habitat, youth, hunting, sports shooting, outdoors, biology, land conservation, or those wonderful bird dogs there are many ways and interest for one to donate to Pheasants Forever-Pheasants Forever.
We are currently seeking product, service, and/or time donations supporting our Annual Fundraising Banquet. If you or if you know someone who would like to make a donation or sponsor an item or work at the banquet, let one of our officers know. If you can get a donation from someone, please pass the information to us so we don't ask that organization or person twice.
Local Donations, both personal and corporate, remain in our chapter and community supporting our habitat, youth, T.U.N.E. Camp, and biologist. When you donate product, services, funds, or time you are making a positive impact for a young person, parcel of land, or wildlife in our area. Please contact any chapter officer for donation options, tax information, and focus areas needing donations.
State Donations, follow the local chapters request and distribution of funds with the added interest of large parcel land/federal crop rotation land conservation, and biologist support. Contact Mr. Bob Hix at the State Pheasants Forever for more donation opportunities.
National Donations, build from the local and state initiatives adding major corporate sponsors and working federal conservation initiatives. Visit the national organization website for donation opportunities at Pheasants Forever the Habitat Organization.
